The gifts we receive from God help us understand ourselves, others, and God Himself. They nurture us through affliction and obedience and deliver us into joyful worship. The gifts of God become experiential truths that allow us to behold the riches and glory of the Christian life. We become the fruit of His righteousness. Our notions of gaining justification with God are not by the beating of our own drum. We are His workmanship (Eph. 2:10). God’s grace to us in Jesus is written by the Spirit of the living God on tablets of the human heart. We become letters of Christ (2 Cor. 3:3). We know we are being carried into God’s presence through the delight of belonging to Jesus. We become alive in Him, and He works out our journey into His own heart. He freely comes to us bearing gifts. Amen.
